Old Bangalow House

Residential

Location

Byron Bay, Australia

Land

Bundjalung

Type

Residential

Phase

DA Approved

Size

650 sqm

This is the new construction of a family home within the fire zone of Bangalow’s bush corridor. Meandering through a complex grove of eucalypts, the new masonry construction houses a six bedroom home and facility for the Sydney based couple to work remotely and run a home yoga studio.

The home gathers various view corridors, both distant and immediate and cascades down the site’s contour to a new swimming pool. Openings in the floor plan allow for hanging gardens and moments of pause which were needed within the contemplative lifestyle of our client. The home benefits from the fire resistance of the brick, concrete and window systems to provide both carefully expansive views and also technical compliance.

It is a bush home, built to merge with the landscape.
