Bondi Junction House Kitchen Table and Sink with Stairs.

Bondi Junction House is an alteration to a 1900s Victorian semi-detached terrace in Sydney's Eastern suburbs and embodies a transformative exploration of 'the unfinished.'

Evolved over three renovations in seven years, the four-bedroom home addresses a family's needs while serving as an educational scaffold. Inspired by Alvar Aalto and Louis Kahn, it embodies a loosely modernist philosophy with a touch of Scandinavian sensibility. Each alteration represents the family's growth, adapting to the evolving tastes and needs of its occupants.

Despite spatial constraints and a challenging West orientation, the design maximises views and internal space. The palette, a contemporary interpretation of Scandinavian style, features low-cost pine structures and Carrara tiles. The home's quirky charm and evolving interiors showcase the spirit of the family within the constraints of a compact block.
